About CFRA

The CFRA Difference

What makes CFRA different from other clubs?

Non-Profit Performance Driving Club

CFRA is a performance driving club rather than a "car" club. Marque-oriented clubs dump you as a member once you no longer are driving the "right car". Our focus is on high-performance driving skills and not the car's pedigree or performance potential.

Managed Growth

CFRA's membership growth objectives are to maintain a club size that is:

  1. small enough to allow members to know each other and to have common interests in events/activities
  2. manageable enough for a handful of volunteers to coordinate activities and events
  3. active enough to identify and provide events which will attract new members and allow CFRA to grow and flourish

Friends and Driving Enthusiasts

CFRA is designed to be a group of friends and driving enthusiasts who share common interests and to enjoy a day of high performance driving. Safety and Courtesy are key elements of CFRA. Events are organized so members can meet and get to know the other members of the club. Members are encouraged to invite their friends (who share common interests) to CFRA events and thus, provide an important link to recruit new members.

Private Events

Only invited guests may attend a CFRA event. CFRA does not advertise. We are seeking friends and driving enthusiasts, and not just headcount. This has also led to CFRA never having car to car contact in any of our HPDE sessions and we have been sponsoring events since 1995.

Skill Level

Drivers at all levels can enjoy CFRA. You can be a beginner with no previous days of track experience or someone with years of race experience. CFRA is not a high performance driving school. However, advanced CFRA drivers are happy to provide mentoring for any member seeking advice on their driving performance.

Qualifying Competition

All advanced drivers (Groups A and R) can compete in the qualifying competition. Points are gained by posting a qualifying time within your car class at each event. You supply the transponder and we record the lap times. Results are published on the web site.

Exhibition Racing

CFRA has the largest exhibition race series in Northern California for modern cars, with approximately 6 events each year. The current format is two to three races per event. No contact between cars is tolerated. The Race Team sets their own rules and policies as well as handling any occasional driver issues. CFRA is one of the few race licenses recognized by Sonoma Raceway.

Your Own CFRA Profile Page

Each member has a profile page within the members-only section of the CFRA website. The profile includes a driver photo, car photos, car classing information, and a history of qualifying lap times.
