Event Details:

For those interested in attending THIS SATURDAY's Karting Event, we still have space left. We're about half way to our goal of 30 participants, which means there's LOTS OF SEAT TIME for those that participate. Please let me know the NAMES of those attending asap.

Answers to common questions:

  • Cost:  $70.
  • Track time:  2.5 hrs (can't beat that!  That's more track time than your arms can stand!  Don't worry, we'll space things out.)
  • Friends invited?  YES!  What a great and inexpensive way to introduce CFRA to friends.
  • How to pay?  Just bring cash or check to the event
  • Long or short track?  Long.  20-turn Super Track, one of the longest indoor track in the US!
  • How good are the karts?  Very good.  9hp (vs 6.5 at SpeedRing).  2004 models.  Well maintained.
  • Kids?  Yes, 12+ can participate, but need to be licensed PRIOR to the event.  See below.
  • Lunch?  Yes, at Harry's Hoffbrau.  $12 will get you stuffed
  • How to register for event?  Just reply to this email with the names of attendees.  Easy!
Thanks to those that responded to the message below.  Here's to driving the *&^% out of someone else's machine for a change!  Remember... NO BUMPING!  Yeah right!

Saturday, July 17 at 8:45am Sharp!

The event format has not been finalized since we need a HEADCOUNT of attendees.   The venue, Go Kart Racer in Burlingame, is California's NEWEST indoor Karting center.  By combining their two tracks into one 20-turn super track, it is touted as 'the best indoor race track in the country'.  Well, we can debate that, but at 3/8 mile long, it is certainly one of the LONGEST courses in the country!  And if that weren't enough to entertain track junkies, there's a 'Turn-5' like ELEVATION CHANGE and newer 9hp karts as well!  See www.gokartracer.com for details.

We need a minimum of 30 drivers. At that level, each driver will pay just under $70.  The price will drop if we get more drivers.  This is a great price.  Thanks to Andy Chittum for negotiating this!

Agenda:

  • 8:45 arrival
  • 9 - 9:30 Briefing
  • 9:30 - 12N Racing
  • 12:30 Lunch and Awards at Harry's Hoffbrau

Parents - GoKartRacer allows kids 12 yrs and older to participate.  HOWEVER, they will need to be licensed by taking one of their $50 driving schools.  I plan on bringing my kids to ease them into CFRA.  http://www.gokartracer.com/junior_driving.htm for more information.

Please reply to me before July 5 to reserve a spot. I need firm commitments so that we don't risk CFRA finances, so keep in mind that a reply is a commitment to the club to attend.
